NLA Application

The Neighborhood Leadership Academy (NLA) at Savannah State University brings together established and emerging leaders from diverse segments of the community to enhance their leadership skills with a focus on advocacy, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. Graduates will be prepared to strengthen the positions of those who are underserved or unrepresented in the community and will be asked to serve as resources to Step Up and other community organizations.

To be considered for the Neighborhood Leadership Academy, complete the application below. You MUST submit a letter of reference with your application. We recommend that you have this letter when you apply or ask the person writing the letter of reference to send it to NLA@stepupsavannah.org shortly after you complete your application. You will not be scheduled for an interview if we do not receive the letter of reference in a timely fashion.

2019 NLA Application

The Neighborhood Leadership Academy at Savannah State University is offered at no cost to participants but requires both a time and service commitment. There is a small stipend for participating in the program. You will only receive the stipend if you attend all of the classes.

The 12-week program is scheduled to begin during the week of September 9, 2019. Classes will be held in the evening at Savannah State University.  At least one Saturday morning session will also be required.

The City of Savannah is a partner in the Neighborhood Leadership Academy. The training is made possible by a grant from the Charles A. Frueauff Foundation.
