Cognitive Rehabilitation: Instructor will teach the individual cognitive strategies to work with identified deficits in areas such as organizational skills, time management, memory problems, etc. Independent Living Skills: Relearning the skills necessary to live independently. Literacy: Instructor will work with individuals who need academic remediation to secure a GED, return to school, or function on the job. Personal and Social Adjustment: A Licensed Professional Counselor is available to work one-on-one to address changes in personality and behavior. Employment Services: Work Adjustment Training, Job Readiness, Job Coaching, Job Development, and Job Modification can assist in returning to the labor market. Health Care Services: Through partnerships and collaborations, services such as speech therapy, occupational and physical therapy are available. Peer Support Group: The local Brain Injury Support Group meets at ADVANCE every month.
Community Employment Services offers individuals the opportunity to work in the community while receiving support and supervision from staff. These services include customized job development, individualized job placement, and on-going long term support. Prior to employment, individuals seeking community jobs are asked to participate in the Job Skills Workshop led by CES staff which covers the interview process, workplace conduct, problem-solving, and much more.
Adult and Community Education (ACE) at Royce Learning Center is a program designed for adult learners of all ages and abilities. ACE uses an individualized, learner centered approach with an understanding that each learner has a different motivation for seeking education. All of our adult learners work with a certified teacher to create an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) that will target the needed skills. We offer: GED and Pre-GED test preparation, Armed Services Vocational Assessment Battery (ASVAB) test, Georgia High School Graduation test, Police, Firefighter, EMT exams, Technical school and college entrance exams, CDL or other written license tests, Reading skills, Writing skills, Math skills, Computer skills, and other general workplace test preparation.
The PCT program prepares Certified Nurse Aides (CNAs) to advance their career in the health care industry. The Patient Care Technician works under the supervision of nursing or medical staff to provide basic patient care, including recording vital signs, EKG and phlebotomy procedures in a variety of healthcare environments. This program consists of classroom/lab instruction and supervised/preceptor externship experience. The externship portion of training is conducted off campus at a medical facility or a clinic where theoretical and practical skills are integrated. The externship program provides an opportunity for the student to observe, assist, learn and perform patient care services.

This program is designed to prepare graduates to pursue employment as multi-skilled medical assistants who work with and under the direction of a physician in either or both the clinical and administrative aspects of the physician’s office or other medical setting. This program focuses on clinical techniques including examining room procedures, obtaining vital signs and medical histories, performing routine laboratory procedures, sterilizing and maintaining equipment, and the proper techniques for administering medications/immunizations as directed by the physician and in accordance with State practice acts, combined with administrative functions and duties. Before graduation from the program, students complete an externship in a physician’s office, clinic, or other healthcare facility under the supervision of a physician, nurse, or health services professional.
