Peach State Poll [download]

The Carl Vinson Institute of Government, University of Georgia, on June 11, 2007 issued a statewide survey, “Georgians pessimistic about elminating poverty.” While more people have become convinced that poverty is a significant problem facing the state more than half of Georgians see poverty as an intractable problem.  

 

The Center on Budget and Policy Priorities [download]

In March 2007, the Center issued a national report titled “The impact of state income taxes on low-income families in 2006,” which stated that the working poor and “near-poor” families in Georgia are hit harder by income tax than those in most other states.

Brookings Report [download]

Study released by the Brookings Institution called “FROM POVERTY, OPPORTUNITY: Putting the Market to Work for Lower Income Families”. It focuses on the higher costs that many low-income families must pay to get by because of where they live and the lack of mainstream financial services available to them.

This is a description of the task force report. The Affordable Housing Action Team is working on implementing many of the recommendations from the report.

Transportation and Childcare Study[download]

This study was commisioned by the City of Savannah. The Dependent Care Action Team and The Transportation Action Team are working on implementing many of the recommendations from this report.

Savannah Public Safety Task Force[download]
